How to handle the heat in Singapore?

One of the most wonderful things about Singapore is that it’s summer all year round! However, adapting to this hot climate is a valid concern for many parents. Our students come from all over the world and may take some time to adjust.
Here are some helpful tips on how to deal with heat, sweat, and rash
4
How does the school keep kids comfortable in the heat?

Our preschool facility has ample shade in the garden. To avoid the heat, outdoor playtime is scheduled in the early mornings and afternoons. Kids can enjoy play activities involving water to keep cool. We also make sure they stay hydrated with fresh water.
Our building is air-conditioned. We advise parents to provide jackets for the children to wear so that the temperature change is not so drastic when they go from outdoors to indoors.
Rest assured, the children do not spend 100% of their time in air-conditioned rooms. There are fans placed in most areas of the campus that aid with ventilation and temperature regulation.
5
How does the school monitor my kids’ health?

At Alpha Green, we pride ourselves on being vigilant while your children are in our care.
To monitor their health, we do daily morning and afternoon temperature checks. We also carry out observation checks for their hands, feet, and mouth.
6
When does the academic year start in Singapore?

In Singapore, the academic year for the majority of local schools (both primary and secondary) usually starts on January 2nd. International schools start in January or August. Some schools follow their own schedule. For example, Korean schools start in March. More info here.

What if we missed the enrolment date?

While most international schools in Singapore only accept enrollments at the start of the year; we understand that your relocation can happen anytime during the year. At Alpha Green, we can offer placements during the year depending on availability. We are more than happy to discuss this with you.
8
Public versus private kindergarten. What’s the difference?

The main differences are in teacher-to-student ratio, enrollment schedule, and academic curriculum.

9
What about teacher to student ratio at Alpha Green?

The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:6 for pre-nursery and 1:8 for nursery to K2.
